Gurk cathedral

Gurk is widely known and appreciated for its cathedral, its history and its favourable location – even the Pope has been here. The church, built in the Romanesque style, is one of the most important buildings of European sacred art. The treasury also has more than 300 objects to marvel at. During Lent, you can also admire the unique Gurk Lenten cloth!

Hochosterwitz Castle

The armoury, weapons collection and painting collection bear witness to the history of this unique fortification. As well as climbing up through the historic 14 gates, you can also reach the castle using the Fürst Max railway. The castle restaurant spoils you with local cuisine.

Straßburg Castle

The former seat of the bishops of Gurk is situated in an idyllic location on a mountain in front of the Gurktal Alps. The exhibition about the Straßburg princely residence and episcopal town shows the roots of the Gurk church, the diocese of Gurk and the origins of Straßburg.
