Naturpark Siebengebirge - Bonn in summer

If you want to experience untouched nature and at the same time follow in the footsteps of ancient legends, the Siebengebirge-Bonn Nature Park is the place to be. The nature park is an impressive protected area in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia and is one of the oldest nature reserves in Germany. With its diverse flora and fauna and volcanic geology, a hike through the deciduous forests of the nature park is an impressive experience. One of the best-known routes is the “Drachenfelsweg”, which leads from Königswinter up to the Drachenfels. The Drachenfels is closely linked to the famous Nibelungen saga, as it is said to have been home to the dragon’s lair of the Nibelungen. The ruins of the medieval Drachenburg castle can also be found there, towering majestically over the Rhine.
