The Upper Black Forest is not only known for its Black Forest gateau, but also impresses with its extensive nature. The Feldberg, the highest peak in the Black Forest, is the heart of the region and spans a wide network of hiking trails. Lakes such as Titisee and Schluchsee with their crystal-clear water are perfect for long boat trips and swimming sessions, while the Wutach Gorge impresses with its wild river landscape. The Hüsli museum of local history and the baroque St. Blasien monastery, which also regularly organizes concerts and cultural events, are a source of information about the history and culture of the Black Forest. In addition to the previously mentioned Black Forest gateau, the Upper Black Forest has even more to offer: Delicacies such as Black Forest ham or Kirschwasser – a high-proof fruit brandy – can also be found and enjoyed in the traditional inns.
